Norfolk Hockey Association President’s Cup 2017

This a very special award that the President of the Norfolk Hockey Association have annually given to a person, or a club, since 1978 in recognition of what they have achieved.

It is a massive honour that this year it has been awarded to Watton Hockey Club, only the 3rd time in its history that it has been awarded to a club rather than an individual. It has been awarded to us, not just because what we have achieved over the years, but the manner in which we have done it. It’s not because of where we are, it’s because of who we are. We have gone from a small one team club, to a thriving middle-sized club, with 5 adult teams and we are continuing to grow with a huge group of juniors waiting to burst through. We are also, very importantly, a founding member of the girls’ development league and hope to have representation in the boys’ development league next season. What has been recognized by the County is that we have done it while maintaining our proud reputation of being a friendly, approachable club, with a core of long standing members who continually keep putting back into the club they love. We are proof to many of the smaller clubs, that much can be achieved if you persevere. We have become a cornerstone of Norfolk hockey, and we definitely have done it in the right way.
