Results Round Up - Feb 4th

The Ladies 2s had one of the best results of the weekend as they jumped up to 8th in Norfolk Division 1 as they beat league leaders Lowestoft Railway 1s 2-1 at Watton Sports Centre. There report here:

Watton L2's produced a fantastic, determined, well structured performance to deservedly beat the surprised league leaders Lowestoft Railway. Earlier in the season Railway hammered us 7-0, but this team, much to the disbelief of a few teams now, have dramatically improved since then. We wanted every ball, played with flair and purpose and deservedly took the league when pressure on the Railway goal saw Imogen Walker finish in style. Railway came back strongly and always looked a threat when their speedy right wing got the ball, and equalised before half time. However, we are made of stern stuff these days. A swift break early in the second half saw player of the match Charlotte Clubb ram the ball home on the far post. The L2 girls were in no mood to relinquish their hard earned lead, and, despite a few scares, maintained enough possession to see out the game to gleefully take all three points and move up the table a couple of places. There is still an awful lot to play for this season, but in this sort of form, L2's will certainly be putting the cat amongst the pigeons. Yet another exhausting game on the sideline for the manager!

Another team that returned to winning ways was the Ladies 1s who picked up an excellent 5-3 home win over North Norfolk Ladies 1s who currently lie 4th in Divison 2NE, there were goals for Jemma Jackson, Lauren Smith, Bea Hinchliffe x 2 and her first goal of the season from Kerry Isbell. The win keeps the 1s four points ahead of third placed Yarmouth. There was a hatrick of home wins on Saturday at the Mens 2s also won as they beat UEA 4s 3-1, Watton scored two PC's one just before and after half time before a third was added with a clinical finish from the top of the D, UEA did pull one goal back but it wasn't enough as the 2s rolled out comfortable winners. Wattons scorers were Alex Emmins, Caine Lloyd and Chris Humphris.

Teams on the road had a tougher time of it as the Mens 1s could only manage a 0-0 draw away to Bury St Edmunds 4s with a POTM performance from keeper Bob Fleming keeping their clean sheet in tact. The Ladies 3s also had a tough time of it as they lost 10-0 to high flying Lowestoft Railway 2s. The Ladies Devs also had a tough game but they managed to draw away to Yarmouth, young Frankie was POTM in a 0-0 draw.
