Watton Ladies (1) 2-1 Bury St Edmunds Ladies (2)
Scorers: Bea Hinchliffe & Jemma Jackson
StartFragmentLadies 1's retain their position at the top of the table after a hard fought 2-1 win away. Watton started hard with Emma, Jaz and Bea finding themselves in Bury's D in the first few minutes. With lots of slick transferring around the midfield and defense Watton kept up the high intensity and came close but with no reward. Bea was unlucky not to be awarded a goal after she lifted the ball over the heads of the defense and into the back of ...the net, as the umpire deemed it too high!!! The battle in the second half continued but when Jemma slotted home a poor clearance by the keeper things were looking hopeful until Bury then equalised with a well executed short corner. With frustrations rising, Watton were determined not to be going home with a draw and finally Bea converted one of the many short corners given. So proud of all the girls fighting spirit! POTM was Captain Jemma Jackson.EndFragment
Watton Ladies (2) 1-1 Beccles Ladies (1)
Scorer: Sian Evans
Watton's young guns have been producing some great hockey over the last few weeks but have not been able earn points. This week they stopped the rot with a 1-1 draw at Beccles...
The performance deserved so much more though. With a more offensive structure Watton looked like they would overrun their opponents every time they went forward while a calm defence looked assured. Beccles broke the deadlock against the run of play when a well struck reverse shot found it's way into the net to lead 1-0 at half time.
Beccles came out stronger in the second half but Watton stood firm and again looked to take the hosts apart with their sheer pace going forward. Watton got their just reward when Sian Evans saw her initial shot saved but was on hand to neatly tuck away the equaliser. Every single player played their part but it was Megan Herbert who narrowly beat Charlie Clubb for the POM vote for her storming performance in defence.
Watton Ladies (3) 0-21 Norwich City (5)
Watton Ladies 3s off the back of their 1-0 win last had a tough time has they travelled to face league leaders Norwich City 5s at Taverham. The young fast and skillful team proved far to strong for the Ladies as the league leaders ran riot, the Ladies 3s look for a more even game when they face Evergreens next Saturday.
Watton Mens (1) 5-3 Bury St Edmunds (5)
Scorers: Daniel Rix 2, Sean Billington, Caine Lloyld, Roman Cassidy
The Mens 1st XI managed to bounce back after last weeks disappointing away trip to North Norfolk with a entertaining home win over Bury 5s. With a few players missing there were call ups for both Grant Harwood and Roman Cassidy from the 2nd XI with the later scoring and picking up POTM. The game was high scoring with end to end hockey but the class and clinical finishing from the Watton forwards left Bury wanting, the win keeps the 1st XI 6th in the table and a win against next weeks opponents Norwich Exiles will see Watton rise above them.
Watton Mens (2) 5-0 Newmarket Mens (3)
Match Conceded by Newmarket
The 2nd XI picked up 3 much needed points after having only picked up 1 point from their last 3 games. Newmarket failed to raise a side and gave the 2s a 5-0 win. Next up is a home game against Ipswich Cranes 2.
