Watton Ladies (1) 11-3 Colchester Ladies (2)
Scorers: Bea Hinchliffe 4, Jas Vincent 3, Jemma Jackson 3, Lauren Smith 1
Watton Ladies 1st XI started off with a quick 1st goal courtesy of a great strike from Bea. However the celebrations were short-lived as Colchester equalised almost immediately from a well-executed short corner. Watton kept the pace up and Bea kept great composure to slot the ball past the keeper for goal number 2. Goal 3 for Bea was not far behind with a cross-body strike into the corner. Watton were in control stringing together quick passes to cut ...open the opposition enabling Helen to dribble into the D to sling the ball across to the back post where Lauren sprinted in to slot the ball into the goal. But Colchester were not going down without a fight as the end to end action continued and they managed to get one back. More quick movement and transferring the ball through Helen, Mel & Jemma in the middle with Lauren driving the ball along the baseline and into D meant Watton were piling on the pressure. Jemma put away a short corner and Jas used her skill to get her name on the score sheet twice. Colchester were still not done and despite a great tackle from Sarah, a quick break saw them score again. Charlie was putting in another solid performance and a full on first half ended with Watton 7-3 up.
Watton tightened up the defence in the second half and worked as unit with Rachael and Amy leading the attack from the back on either side, working the ball through the midfield to the forwards which led to 2 more goals from Jemma another from Jasmine and Bea slotted away a short corner rebound for her 4th of the match. Tamika had some great touches to keep Colchester out with Holly confidently clearing anything that came her way.
A great performance from everyone on team, bouncing back from last week’s defeat to regain top of the table status, player of the match went to Ranger Helen.
Watton Ladies (2) 2-6 Pelicans Ladies (2)
Goal Scorers: Cathrine Ashby and Imogen Walker
In another tough away day in division 1 for Watton ladies 2s, the 2s once again put up a strong performance but the class of the ex-norfolk Prem team shone through in the end but there were highlights for Watton with goals for both Cathrine Ashby and Imogen Walker. Next up is an away trip to fellow strugglers Beccles.
Watton Ladies (3) 1-0 Pelicans Ladies (3)
Goal Scorer: Chantelle Yates
Well girls, we did it. It was a tough match but we dug in. Great play between Daisy and Chantel led to a goal after about 10 minutes, still a long way to go. Pelicans didn't seem to be able to get through but they had a couple of attempts in the first half seeing Rebecca make some great saves and brilliantly cleared by Polly. Haidee made some great runs down the right, putting a ball in to Laura. Pelicans defence were on top of her before she could take the shot but the first half looked promising as we made run after run into the attacking 25. Second half saw Pelicans come at us hard but the defence stood firm and kept there eyes on the key pelican players! Watton had three short corners but could not utilise - I feel a training session coming on!!!! The last 10 minutes were a little hairy and Pelicans worked well to get the ball in our d, but some solid defending from Polly saw shots go wide.
Watton Mens (1) 1-4 North Norfolk Mens (2)
Goal Scorer: Sean Billington
In what was a tough away trip for the Mens 1s they suffered their 4th defeat of the season. A Sean Billington goal was the only highlight as he now tops the goal scoring charts with 10 goals for the season. Next up back to back home games against Bury 5's and Norwich Exiles.
