October 29th Round Up - As Ladies 1s remain top in Div 2NE!

Ladies 1s 7-0 Ipswich 3s

- Jasmine Vincent 3, Emma Lake 2, Jemma Jackson, Charlotte Chubb

StartFragmentWe went to Ipswich with high hopes of a game that where we could rack up our goal difference. Weather like early September, half the squad on a jolly, we were off; to a bit too much of a steady start. Once Jemma had opened fire, the engines finally started. Lauren wove around in the right corner and Emma attacked everything in her path. Charlie slammed the second away, an impressive nutmeg.

Half time; and after giving our selves a talking too - all guns blazing. Holly got her deck chair out and put shades on. Teeki was cool as a cucumber under pressure, keeping it out of our 'D'. Pineapple and Kerris drove forward from the back. The mid-girls ran rings around these jokers. Jasmine stole the ball from everyone, including her own team mates. Several stick tackles and 2 green cards later - the umpires decided they didn't understand a single hockey rule, and left us to ref ourselves.

In summary, Jas got a hattrick. Emma added another limp goal to her collection. Amy made it into the attacking D more than once, and Holly went to sleep. And we probably should have got 10+!! Final score 7-0! Top of the table. POTM and reporter of the week. Childers.

Ladies 2s - NO GAME

Ladies 3s 0-3 Herlings

Well, what can I say. 9 players ventured to East Harling to face Her...lings on grass!!! With no keeper, Sharon stepped into the kit and after a quick lesson from Sarah, she was ready to go. Herlings came at us hard and fast from the off but the orders were to stay between the ball and goal and that is what every player did. Cat Hazel kept her eye on the defensive d, marking players but also had good judgement for the gaps and went on a few runs into the attacking half. Bryony and Gracie made it difficult in the middle of the park while Jody and new girl Pip linked well on the left. The defensive line worked well covering each other and attacking players.

Half time score 0-0..... Second half started and Watton were immediately under pressure! Sharon kept her head and kept the ball well away from the line..., Bob another one for the future! 15 minutes in to the 2nd half, Stine took a ball to the nose, a quick patch up and clearing blood from the pitch saw us all back, regrouped and even more determined. It was an onslaught but Sharon watched the ball all the time. Herlings were getting frustrated that their shots were not on target. 15 minutes from time, saw a flying shot disappear into the back of the net!!! Never mind, we kept going and Cat Hazel made an awesome run from halfway got past the keeper and had a shot which was amazingly saved on the line by the Herlings defence. Back it came and Herlings got 2 more.

Final score 3-0 What an amazing team performance and superb calm under pressure from Jody and Bryony who are working the area becoming awesome inner players. We would also like to thank Megan and Cat for giving up their slip day for us. Well played all.

Mens 1s 1-2 Thetford Town 1s

- Henry Garner

The Mens 1s suffered back to back defeats in Division 5NE of the East Leagues as they suffered a home defeat to 2nd placed Thetford Town. A goal from Henry Garner wasn't enough for the 1s to claim anything from the game as the slip down to 6th in the league.

Mens 2s 1-4 UEA Mens 4s

- Dan Pointer

The Mens 2s couldn't make it back to back wins as they faced a strong UEA side away from home. Despite holding UEA to 1-0 at the break, UEA doubled this soon after a goal back from Dan Pointer was the only highlight as two more goals from UEA towards the end of the 2nd half killed off any chances of a comeback.
