The Ladies 1 travelled to Yarmouth for their second league game. With a slower, bouncy Astro, and unseasonably warm weather the team knew it was going to be a tough game.
Watton started with confidence and maintained much possession. Putting into practice moving out of contact and distribution around the defence. However, regular attacks into the Yarmouth area failed to create a goal.
Yarmouth rallied at the start of the 2nd half but Wattons defence and keeper calmly dealt with the pressure. Watton regained control and continued to pressure from all areas. Countless penalty corners were saved, but efforts were eventually rewarded with a goal slammed home by Charlotte Clubb. All players deserve credit for a fantastic team effort of intensity and determination. Lauren Smith was voted man of the match.
Watton are now 2nd in the league and face Harleson Magpies 3 at home next Saturday 1pm.
